An agenda has been issued for a meeting of the Helotes City Council and the Parks and Recreation Committee at 10 a.m. on Sunday (Yes! Sunday), August 9, 2009, at the Helotes Natural area located at the corner of FM 1560 and Parrigin Road. This is a public meeting open to everyone. »

Every August since 2005, I have spent a lot of my time at City Hall attending budget workshops. Typically, City Council schedules four or five of these workshops during August and September, and they analyze every minute detail of the City's revenue and expenditures over the last fiscal year to come up with... »

About a month ago, the Grey Forest City Council was informed that the grant from the state in the amount of $1,125,000 intended for the creation of a memorial park to honor the late Senator Frank Madla (which had been turned down by the Helotes City Council in 2008) was now available to them... »

I hope this will not become a pattern here in Helotes. We deserve some more good restaurants, some unique restaurants, ones that will draw people to Helotes to eat, enjoy themselves, and spend lots of money. »

Why is the City of Helotes so backward and stubborn with the traffic flows? Every time you turn onto FM 1560 from Bandera Road at Circle A Trail you must yield to traffic coming from the police and city offices. That is a hazard as you slow traffic down »

The Helotes Parks and Recreation Committee members are: Scott Muenz, Chair; Phyllis Jackson, Vice Chair; Linda Montemayor, Secretary; Bert Buys; Maria McCarns; Donny Jones; and Megan Mutschler. They will meet this coming Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Their agenda is as follows. »

This past week the office of the current fire station was demolished. The empty space left is where the driveway will be, serving as both the entrance to and the exit from the new fire station. »

The Mayor informed those who had signed up to speak at the public hearing that they could be questioned by Council and could be required to have proof of what they say at the hearing. He also mentioned a flyer that had been distributed in Cedar Springs that contained erroneous and misleading information.... »

Will the changes compromise the quality of the project? Will they cost us taxpayers more over the coming years? Will they jeopardize public safety or the safety of our police officers or our firefighters? »
