HHS

AS A COURTESY TO THE HELOTES HUMANE SOCIETY (HHS), WE WILL OCCASIONALLY POST INFORMATION ON RESCUED CATS AND DOGS THEY CURRENTLY HAVE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.

CANDY

Candy is a Pit Bull mix.  She is 2 years old and weighs 30 pounds.  She came to the Helotes Humane Society after she was found on the side of the road after a storm.  She was 10 to 15 pounds underweight at the time and covered in fleas.  Her coat was spotted with sores and hair loss.  She was found to be heartworm positive.  In foster care, Candy is making great progress, has put on weight, and undergone heartworm treatment.  She has been spayed, is well fed, and is beautiful.  She is looking for a good home where she will be loved and taken care of.

Candy is an affectionate girl.  She is learning house manners and walking on a leash.  She is very loving with kids and adults.  She gets along with male dogs but has issues with female dogs.  It would be best if she went to a home with no other dogs or a well-socialized male dog.  We are not sure how she is with cats; when walking she is very interested when she sees them.  Candy is a very smart girl and a joy to work with.  She would make someone a great companion.

If you would like more information about Candy, contact the HHS at 210-422-6242 or by email at hhsanimals@yahoo.com.

TESSY

Tessy was abandoned in a cardboard box at a veterinarian’s office.  She is looking for her FUREVER home.  Tessy is an 8-month-old tortoiseshell who weighs 8 pounds.  She is a very sweet and happy kitten.  She is talkative and enjoys being in the middle of whatever’s going on.  She is self-assured; you can bang a pot or drop something and she is not spooked.  Like a perfect lady, she uses her litter box.  Tessy is calm and gentle and would be a great addition to any home.

If you would like more information about Tessy, contact HHS at 210-422-6242 or email at hhsanimals@yahoo.com.

EMMIE LOU

The Helotes Humane Society was called about a very pregnant cat found on the UTSA campus.  One of our members, who became Emmie Lou’s foster care provider, met the lady who had her and took her home.  Everyone was surprised to find out a kitten had been born on the way home. (The kitten was named Hiway, of course).  She had three more kittens that night.  Emmie Lou has been a very good mom, and now it is her time to find a forever home.

Emmie Lou is 1 year old and weighs 7 pounds.  This sweet and beautiful tortie likes to drink from faucets.  She is a little shy at first, but once she gets to know you she is your best friend for life.  She gets along well with other cats, and dogs are OK with her, as long as they don’t chase her.  Emmie Lou is enjoying the easy life and getting her figure back after having kittens and living on the streets for awhile.  This little lady loves to be petted.

If you would like more information about Emmie Lou, contact HHS at 210-422-6242 or email at hhsanimals@yahoo.com.
