Update on Senator Frank L. Madla, Jr., Natural Area
On November 16, 2009, the City of Grey Forest closed on the land that will be dedicated in memory of Senator Frank L. Madla, Jr. Congratulations to Grey Forest Mayor, Don Darst, and the Grey Forest City Council, and especially to Jen Nottingham, for stepping up and making this dream a reality.
Much work remains, but the purchase of the land with the help of the City of San Antonio is a major step in this process. Many people in and around the cities of Grey Forest and Helotes are dedicated to the success of this project and will assist in the development of this wonderful asset.
For background information on this effort, see the articles on this website entitled “Could the Madla Memorial Park be Back,” “The Senator Frank L. Madla, Jr., Natural Area,” and “San Antonio Approves Proposition 1 Funds to Buy Land for Senator Frank Madla Natural Area.” An easy way to pull up these articles is to click on the Search box at the top of the left column, type in Madla, and hit enter.
