Leon Valley Historical Society Fundraiser
The 9th Annual Fundraising Dinner Fall Fiesta and Silent Auction, hosted by the Leon Valley Historical Society, will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009, at the Leon Valley Community Center at 6427 Evers (at Poss Road), Leon Valley. Tickets are $35 per person and seating is limited.
This year’s fundraiser will benefit the Huebner Onion Homestead and Stagecoach Stop Restoration Project. The society is restoring the site and the grounds to be a living history museum and education center teaching early ranch life and skills and the value of natural resources.
The dinner is being catered by the award-winning ChaCha’s Mexican Restaurant, well known for their popular “south of the border’ cuisine. They will offer chips and salsa, beef fajitas, enchiladas, spanish rice, refried beans, guacamole, a dessert, and a beverage.
The silent auction will include sporting goods, collectibles, antiques, home decor, dinners for two, event tickets, gym memberships, spa visits, and much, much more.
Music will be provided by the Tennessee Valley Authority. This band, lead by singer and musician Hank Harrison, brings down the house every year with their unique style of toe-tapping bluegrass music which is legendary across Texas and beyond.
Through the efforts of the Leon Valley Historical Society, phases 1 and 2 of the restoration of the Hueber Onion Homestead have been completed. The money raised at the fundraiser will allow them to continue their efforts.
