Wilderness First-Aid Certification Training
Wilderness First-Aid Certification taught by Sam Coffman of The Human Path. $50 Deposit.
A 16-hour Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification course will be offered over two Saturdays, September 5th and September 12th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The course lecture topics covered will include:
•Intro to WFA, legal, ethical, and psychological issues
•Care of several of the most common outdoor-related injuries
•Heat, altitude, and cold injuries
•Animal attacks, insect bites
•Cardiac arrest (overview of CPR, but no CPR certification included)
•Water and electrolyte balance, diabetic emergencies, water purification
•Physical exam & victim assessment
The hands-on skills areas covered will include:
•Victim assessment & scene survey
•Bleeding control and caring for shock
•Bandaging
•Splinting
•Emergency moves
