Leon Valley Earthwise Living Day 2010
On Saturday, February 27, 2010, the City of Leon Valley is holding its 21st Annual Earthwise Living Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Leon Valley Community Center, 6724 Evers at Poss Road (behind the Leon Valley Library).
The purpose of this event is to aid the citizens of Leon Valley and the surrounding areas in developing a sustainable way of life in harmony with the natural surroundings by:
- Providing information to manage household waste, water and energy conservation, and improving air quality.
- Providing education and support in developing landscape xeriscaping, organic gardening, and native plant gardening.
- Encouraging community support for alternative transportation, waste reduction, and recycled materials.
This year’s theme is “TREES – Safeguarding our Air, Water, Land, & Community.” There will be earth-friendly educational/tree-wise speakers, exhibitor booths, food booths, a Tree Poetry Contest, earth-friendly arts and crafts for the kids, entertainment, and free admission, making this a family-friendly fun event.
