Death of Eugene Johnson, Father of Mary Johnson Richeson
Sadly, the Herald has just learned of the death of Eugene G. Johnson, the father of Mary Johnson Richeson (the wife of former Helotes City Council member and Mayor Pro Tem J.B. Richeson), on July 2, 2009, after a short illness.
Visitation will begin on Monday, July 6, 2009, at 5 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at 8:30 a.m. with a procession leaving at 9:15 a.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church (8510 S. Zarzamora) at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
According to his obituary, Eugene Johnson was 79 years old. He was born in El Paso, Texas, on July 25, 1929. He was a Journeyman Electrician for City Public Service and retired after 38 years. His greatest passions were his family and his air conditioning business. Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Marie Montemayor Johnson; son, William A. Johnson and wife Roxie; daughter, Mary Johnson Richeson and husband J.B.; daughter, Edie Gale Johnson; daughter, Pamela Johnson Jimenez and husband Albert; brothers, Thomas and Charles Johnson; 11 grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends. Eugene belonged to the Kilowatt Club, served as Financial Secretary of the IBEW Local 500, served on the South San Antonio ISD Board of Trustees, and was a member of the Valley Forest Neighborhood Association.
