The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has issued an advisory warning people not to consume fish from Lower Leon Creek starting at the Old U.S. 90 bridge downstream to the Loop 410 Bridge in San Antonio.

Laboratory testing continues to show elevated levels of PCBs in fish tissue. A smaller section of the creek has been under advisory since 2003.

The DSHS notes that elevated levels of PCBs in fish do not pose a health risk for people swimming in the creek.
